Introduction :-

Delhi, the nation's capital and third-largest city. Delhi is the largest city. The city consists of two parts Old Delhi and New Delhi. it's also the travel hub of northern India. Delhi is a major travel gate way. It is one of the India's busiest, entrance point for overseas airlines, the hub of north Indian travel network and a stop on the overland route across Asia. Delhi is one of the most historic capitals in the world and two of its monuments- the Qutb Minar and Humayun's Tomb - have been declared World Heritage Sites. It is also one of the greenest capitals. For the visitor, it serves as a perfect introduction to the cultural wealth, the complexities and dynamism of India.


History :

Humayun his son built a new city Din Panah, however in 1540, the Sher Shah Suri drove Humayun out of the country razed Din Panah to the ground and built the sixth city of Delhi Sher Shahi. The 'Old Fort' was the establishment he created.The Mugahl soon reestablished themselves, however Delhi was no longer the capital.From the 12th and 17th centuries, the rulers of successive dynasties established seven "cities" in different parts of Delhi. The first one was the foundation of Qutub Minar in 1199 followed by Siri in1920, Tughlaquabad, Jahanapanah, Firuzabad, Purana Quila and Shahjahanabad.During this period, some of the most outstanding monuments were built which stand as past glory of the Afghan and Mughal architecture. The Qutub Minar built in 1199 rises to a height of 72.5 metres from a base of 14.32 metres; Humayun's Tomb begun in 1564 is one of the finest examples of garden Tomb, the Red Fort - an imposing citadel built in the 17th century and Jami Masjid, the largest mosque in India.

Sightseeing of Delhi / New Delhi :-

Humayun's Tomb - Built by the wife of Humayun, Haji Begum in the mid 16th century, this red sand stone structure is considered to be the predecessor of Taj Mahal. The structure is one of the best example of Mughal Architecture.

Jantar Mantar - Few minutes walk from Connaught Place is is a strange collection of Solomon colored structures. These were built by Maharaja Jai Singh and is actually an observatory.

Qutab Minar - In 1199, Qutbuddin raised the Qutab Minar either as a victory tower or as a minaret to the adjacent mosque. From a base of 14.32 mtrs. it tapers to 2.75 mtrs. at a height of 72.5 mtrs. It is still the highest stone tower in India, one of the finest stone tower in India.

By Air
Delhi has an extensive network of international and domestic flights. All the major airlines in the world fly through Delhi, and it is easily accessible from anywhere in the world. Domestic air links cover Delhi from all the major cities in the country.

By Road
Buses from all the major places in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are available for getting to Delhi. During the summer months, air-conditioned coaches are recommended.

By Rail
Trains run from all the parts of the country to Delhi. For nearby places like Chandigarh, Dehradun, Gwalior, Bhopal, Lucknow and Kanpur, the Shatabdi Express is recommended.
